# Deleting a Tag

> Remove a PEX tag you no longer need from Tag Manager, or disable it instead to preserve historical tag data.

*If you no longer want to use a tag, PEX recommends that you set the tag to "Enabled: No." See* [*Enabling and Disabling Tags*](/administrator-guide/enabling-and-disabling-tags).

## How to Delete a Tag

    Log in to [dashboard.pexcard.com](https://dashboard.pexcard.com?utm_source=support)
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click on "Business Settings"
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click on the "Tag Manager" tab
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click on the "X" at the far right of the description of the tag you want to delete

    You will see a confirmation dialog box asking you to confirm that you want to delete the tag

    Click the "Delete" button in the confirmation dialog box

    <Note>
      **Note:**

      * Any previous transactions that have this tag assigned will still show the details for the tag
      * Deleting a tag does not delete the tag information from historical transactions
      * If a tag is deleted that is later needed, creating a new tag with the same name will not be allowed. Tags must all have unique names
