# How to Enable Multi-factor Authentication

> Multi-factor authentication helps to protect your account by sending a secure access code to your email or registered phone number. This means that even if your password is compromised, your account will not be accessible. This setting is recommended for all cardholders.

## How to Enable Multi-factor Authentication

<Steps>
  <Step>
    Log into your PEX account via [dashboard.pexcard.com](https://dashboard.pexcard.com?utm_source=support) site
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click on the avatar icon on the top right corner of your screen
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click "My Profile" from the drop down menu
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click the button to "Edit profile"
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click the button titled “Enable” to turn on multi-factor authentication
  </Step>

  <Step>
    This will send a 6-digit code to your email inbox. You will then need to enter the 6-digit code into the Secure Access Code confirmation text box.
  </Step>

    Click the “Confirm” button.

      **Note:**

      If you did not receive the code, please check the email address on file. You can also click the link titled "I didn't receive a code" to send another code via email.
