# How to Set Time-Based Spend Limits (Mobile App)

> Set daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or lifetime spending limits for cardholders from the PEX administrator mobile app.

The PEX system gives Administrators powerful tools for controlling cardholder spending — by setting limits on how much a cardholder can spend in a predetermined period of time:

* Daily (24 hour period — Midnight to Midnight ET)
* Weekly (Sunday to Saturday)
* Monthly (1st to 31st)
* Yearly (Jan 1 to Dec 31)
* Lifetime

  Different Plans have different features. Please check your Plan.

Administrators can set Time-Based Spend Rules for cardholders using the Mobile App:

* Download the [iOS app from the App Store](https://itunes.apple.com/app/id584331280)
* Download the [Android app from the Google Play Store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.softjourn.pexcardholder)
* The download is free but carrier data rates may apply

## How to set time-based spend rules using the Mobile App

<Steps>

    Log in to the Mobile App
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click the "Cards" icon at the bottom of the screen
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Navigate to the cardholder
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click on the cardholder's name

    *Click the "Cards" icon to see the list of cardholders. Click on the cardholder's name.*
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click on "Spend Rules"

    *Click "Spend Rules"*
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click "Time-based spend limits"
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Enter the amount of the spend limit into the appropriate field:

    * Daily
    * Weekly
    * Monthly
    * Yearly
    * Lifetime
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click "Save" in the upper right-hand corner
  </Step>

*Enter amounts into the "Limit" fields. Click "Save."*

<Note>
  **Note:**

  * The spend limits for shorter time periods must be lower than the spend limits for longer time periods
    * A cardholder cannot have a Daily spend limit of $900 with a Monthly spend limit of $500 (the system will not allow it)
  * It is not necessary to enter a value into every field.
    * You can leave fields blank (no time-based spend limit), and just click "Save".
