# Linking bank accounts

> PEX requires at least one linked bank account for Credit Expense underwriting and repayments — here's what you need to know about your options

Linking additional accounts that show meaningfully more cash assets could result in a higher limit. You can connect via Plaid or by uploading bank statements.

## Plaid versus bank statement connections

Linking via Plaid is the preferred method. It's safe — your credentials are never shared with PEX. If Plaid doesn't work with your bank, or you'd prefer not to establish an ongoing connection, you may apply with three months of bank statements instead.

<Warning>
  **If you use bank statements, keep in mind:**

  Statements must be downloaded as PDFs directly from your online banking. You'll need to verify microdeposits before using the credit line, and you'll need to re-upload statements periodically for as long as your credit account is open.
</Warning>

<Tip>
  **Tip:**

  Regardless of connection method, all accounts must be in the name of the business applying for the account.
</Tip>

## Connecting additional external bank accounts

PEX assigns credit lines based on several factors, including cash in your linked accounts. Linking additional accounts that show meaningfully more cash assets may allow PEX to assign you a higher credit limit.

All accounts must be in the name of the business applying for the account.

## Frequently asked questions

<AccordionGroup>

  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I link a personal bank account?">
    No. All linked accounts must be in the name of the business applying for the account. Personal accounts are not eligible.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Will linking more accounts increase my credit limit?">
    It may. PEX considers the cash in your linked accounts when assigning a credit line. Linking additional accounts that show meaningfully more cash assets could result in a higher limit.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How often do I need to re-upload bank statements?">
    If you connected via bank statements rather than Plaid, you'll need to periodically re-upload current statements for as long as your credit account is open. PEX will let you know when updated statements are needed.
