# Using Auto Card Funding Instead of Manual Card Funding

> Auto Card Funding is an easy way to give your cardholders access to funds without needing to directly fund a card. This feature increases liquidity as it allows you to give multiple cardholders access to all the funds available in your PEX Account and eliminates the need to fund each card individually.

When Auto Card Funding is enabled on a card, that card will maintain a \$0 balance until it is used for a transaction. If the transaction is approved, the funds will immediately be transferred to the card in realtime. This also creates a direct one-to-one relationship between card funding and transactions, allowing you to easily connect card funding with spend.

<Note>
  **Note:**

  Not all accounts have this option available. If you do not see this option on your cards, please contact your customer success manager or [PEX administrator support](/administrator-guide/contact-administrator-support).
</Note>

<Info>
  **Best practice:**

  When you enable auto card funding, we highly recommend strong spend rules to protect your cardholders from overspending and then link to spend rules / policies. Learn more about [managing spend rule policies](/administrator-guide/approving-a-spend-request#managing-the-spend-rule-requests-feature).
