Early credit release is a PEX Credit Expense feature that puts your credit back to work as soon as you pay. When you make a payment, we review your account and may release part of it, or even the full amount, as available credit right away, so you don’t have to wait days for the whole payment to clear.

Example

Imagine your company makes a payment of $15,727.51. We calculate a release percentage for this payment based on your account, then free up that share as available credit right away. In this example it’s 70%, and the rest becomes available once your bank clears the payment.

After a payment, part of your credit is already available and the rest is waiting to settle

Payment on 01 Nov 2026$15,727.51
Early credit release for this payment70%
Released right away$11,009.26
Released once the payment clears$4,718.25 on 03 Nov 2026, 1:06 PM ET
We calculate the early credit release for each payment, so the percentage can be higher, lower or none on another payment.

What makes early credit release more likely

A few things influence whether we release part of a payment early and how much. You’re more likely to see credit released when you:
  • Connect more of your bank accounts
  • Keep strong balances across them
  • Stay current with no past-due balances
The stronger these are, the more of your payment we can typically release early. Amounts vary by account, so keeping these in good standing gives you the best results. For more information, see the PEX Credit Expense Card Program Terms.

Questions

If a payment doesn’t go through, we remove the credit we released for that payment as soon as the payment fails.
